The UK’s biggest naturist weekend – 19 - 22 June
Naturists from all over the UK and overseas will be descending on Cornwall in June to participate in British Naturism’s second annual Nudefest event - three days of summer events and activities at Newperran Holiday Park which will become a naturist resort from midday Thursday 19th to midday Sunday 22nd.
Nudefest2008 (website www.nudefest.co.uk) provides a chance for naturists to enjoy a packed weekend meeting like minded-people, having fun and relaxing and taking part in games and sports, activities, talks and workshops and social and music events.
It’s also a perfect opportunity for those that have never tried naturism before. There is no group more welcoming to the newcomer than naturists – we all remember the issues we had about going nude with others for the first time. The venue is also private and secluded and will be exclusively ours for the period of the event. Whether you are on your own or with a group or family, you’ll enjoy it.
Events and activities include life drawing, crafts (for kids and adults), photography, belly and soca dancing, massage, sacred dance, life coaching, yoga, tai chi and a beach clean-up at nearby Perran Sands; sport – for fun and for competition - every day; and some great social/music events including bingo, disco, pub quiz, 70’s band Edison Lighthouse playing live, and some specific ice-breaker gatherings to help guests meet each other. There’ll be a draw with some great prizes and the return of our version of the NEC (Naturist Exhibition Centre) with stalls manned by commercial enterprises from the naturist world. More events are expected to be added.
The 25-acre Newperran site includes a large swimming pool (redeveloped over the winter), pub, café, children’s play areas, and plenty of space for camping and chilling out with friends old and new. Over 300 guests are expected to attend.
British Naturism Chairman, Richard Daniels, said:
“We’re delighted to be approaching our second Nudefest event. It’s a great opportunity for us to show naturism as a normal leisure-time activity and provide a great fun weekend for guests. More and more people are realising that clothes are not always necessary and that shedding them is good for you – it helps with body image issues and makes you feel better emotionally, mentally and physically. There’s also a wonderful community spirit amongst people who have discovered this sensible way of being and we encourage people to come and experience it. There really is nothing to be shy about.
Press attendance
Want to really find out what’s it like to be part of a naturist event? There are limited places available for the Press and other Media to attend Nudefest2008. You will be able to spend time with us, chatting to organisers and guests, joining in with the activities and events and above all, experiencing naturist life for yourself. We want you to come for the whole event but do try and stay overnight at least once – there really is nothing like the feeling of getting up in the morning and not having to decide what to wear! Details on request – in advance of the event please.
Even if you don’t attend, a Press Call will take place at 9.30am at Newperran Holiday Park on Saturday 21st June. Unfortunately, access to Nudefest2008 itself will not be permitted, but organisers and guests will be available for interviews, photographs and conversation about the event and naturism generally. If you would like to attend, you must book your place at the press call in advance. Thank you.

Notes for Editors
• British Naturism (BN) is the UK’s officially recognised naturist organisation. It exists to support and unite naturists around the UK and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2004, although previous incarnations have been in existence since the 1930s.
• Amongst the aims of BN are to campaign for more naturist places to be made available and to protect naturists against discrimination and Victorian attitudes to the human body.
• Fact – simply being naked in a public place is not against the law. Various pieces of legislation and common law are often mentioned in connection with naturism but they are not relevant.
• In the UK, there are over 130 sun clubs, swim clubs and holiday resorts and 12 officially designated naturist beaches, with many more being used regularly by naturists. Membership of BN is around 13,000 people with up to 100,000 more being members of clubs affiliated to BN. The calendar of naturist events– not all run by British Naturism – is packed for 2008.
• Naturism is good for you. Naturists report improvements in well-being, stress, chronic illness, self-esteem and body image. It’s also a sensible choice of dress when the weather is warm. Naturists are normal people. The only difference between activities inside and outside of naturism is the dress code. See FAQs about naturism here.
• BN co-produced Bare Britain, with Lifestyle Press in June 2005, a guidebook to naturism and naturist places in the UK. It is available in bookshops up and down the country, a landmark step for a book on this subject, and has become a best-seller.
• YBN (Young British Naturists) has a membership of young men and women between the ages of 16 and 30 who get together at clubs and beaches many weekends. They represented the UK at the International Naturist Federation (INF) Youth Rally held in France in 2005 and hosted the Rally in the UK in May 2007 – see here for details.
• British Naturism have adopted the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) as their President’s Charity of the Year. We are raising funds and awareness and working with them to raise money for their causes. Their website iswww.mcsuk.org.
• For more information on British Naturism, please visit our website. For the media, there is a dedicated “Media Centre” here , which contains useful information for those wishing to write about naturism or feature this wonderful world in their publications or programmes, including a downloadable Media Information Pack. There is also a contact page to ensure that any enquiries are directed to the right person and gain an appropriate and speedy reply.
