Members will already be aware from BN176 that Andrew Welch's role as Commercial Manager for BN will be changing from 1.7.08. The rumour mill has been hard at it, so now's the time to let everyone know what's in Andrew's new contract for the period 1 July to the end of 2008.

Andrew's previously 'all embracing' role is to become more focused in certain areas where we feel BN will benefit most from his skills. These are editing/managing BN magazine, handling media enquiries and looking after the BN website and forum (but not all of what he currently does). As a result he will be spending less time on BN work in total, and can not be expected to be instantly available for whatever comes in. If BN needs Andrew for any extra ad-hoc assignments which need to be done, we will of course be talking to him.

This change is part of a wider budget response BN is making to current financial realities. We can only spend what money we have coming in, and with a reduced membership and a below-inflation rise in subscriptions voted for last year we are having to find other ways of operating. We are nevertheless delighted that Andrew is staying with us, and of course his work will be helped by members who respond to the calls for volunteers to work with him. Please do get in touch if you'd like to help.

It may take a little adjusting to the new way of working, so please be understanding and tolerant while we all learn and make the changes. In the meantime, while the changes are being made and volunteers put in place where necessary, if in doubt of who to ask about anything, the BN office should be your first port of call.
