British Naturism - News

Our New Executive Council Officers

31 October 2008

Message from Michael Farrar, Chairman

First I must thank members of British Naturism for electing me to what in recent years has been anything but a bed of roses. It was a matter of great surprise that no other person sought nomination, and, needless to say, I would have greatly preferred there to have been a contest.

I have been a member of the Executive now for many years, though for most of that time not in a voting capacity. Could this perhaps absolve me from blame for past decisions? I am always an optimist! I am an optimist too about the future of our organisation. In spite of the foolish acrimony, which has led to the resignation of several valuable members from the Executive, the organisation will survive to serve you, the members.

We will continue to defend your interests, whenever they are threatened by legislation, byelaws or local prejudice. We will continue to negotiate for additional facilities, as well as for additional benefits of membership. Above all we will continue to work towards public recognition of our lifestyle as a legitimate, healthy, and, simply, an ideal way of life. To put it shortly, nothing's better.

Michael Farrar

Message from Angela Russell, President

I have taken this role following the resignation of John Payne and during the next year I will help Michael and the EC members to move BN forward once more. I have been a member of the Executive as the Midland Region Representative and feel I have represented the region strongly during that time. I do believe in the future of British Naturism. We have gone through some difficult years recently, I believe we have all learnt lessons which can strengthen the organisation in the future.

During the next year I wish to develop the contacts with the clubs and swims to fully understand their expectations and concerns as we move forward as an organisation. For the individual members I want to represent them by being open to comments both positive and negative, and responding to those comments quickly and fairly. I do understand the need for change and I have heard the message from the membership who wish that change to happen.

Change will happen over time as the membership guide the EC to their expectations and needs. BN will continue to campaign for public recognition for the right to be naturist, support the sports events, and continue to provide social events that many attend. So, here looking forward to 2009 and remembering the lessons of the past.

Angela Russell
