Campaigning - how you can help

Campaigns: All issues Major issues:

The Management of British Naturism is made up almost entirely of volunteers and so to make real progress we need to draw on the support of members and other naturists.

Here are some ways that you can help:

Join in

  • Join BN. Numbers count when talking to politicians and organisations and financial support is vital. For example the expenses for the meeting at Penhale Camp were about £600.
  • Join the BN Media Group. We get lots of requests for assistance from the media and researchers. A briefing paper is available to help you. Contact the Commercial Manager.
  • Join the BN e-zine group and receive irregular updates on all sorts of things. Contact the Commercial Manager.
  • Join the BN Campaigns Group and receive emails about campaigning issues. Contact the Research and Liaison Officer
  • Join YBN if you are in the age group 16 to 30.
  • Make a date for some of the major events each year (Beach days, Abbey House Gardens, Castle Howard, Alton Towers, Nudefest, fun weekends and more) and swell our numbers to show everyone that we are a large and active group of people. A large gathering of naturists often attracts positive publicity.

Tell others

  • Let young people know about YBN and the activities and events they are involved in. A copy of the YBN flyer is in the Members' Area of the website or can be requested from Head Office.
  • Buy some of the "Nothing's better!" goods - especially the window stickers - to show the world that we are not a load of weirdoes hiding behind the rhododendrons and we are happy to stand up for something we love.
  • Encourage newcomers to give it a try. For example clubs could arrange a clothes optional session.
  • Ask the office for some flyers and give them out at the beach or club.

Tell us

  • Give us feedback on issues that you face as a naturist, both locally and nationally.
  • Send in press cuttings that you come across about naturism good or bad, especially where it concerns your local area.
  • Fill in the questionnaire part of the beach flyer about a beach you have visited (official or unofficial). Better still, ask the office for some flyers and give them out at the beach!

Help us

  • Act for BN at a local level, gathering whatever information you can about influential people, possible locations, likely barriers to progress and promotional opportunities.
  • Add your skills to the expertise database to help BN, members and clubs to meet the challenges that face them. We are particularly keen to find people with legal knowledge. To add your details or to make requests for help contact the Commercial Manager
  • Write letters to local papers and politicians raising awareness of naturism and particularly when problems occur or the wrong things are being said. Visit www.locata.co.uk/commons to find contact details for your MP. BN's parliamentary lobbyist, Robin Hulf, is available for general help on governmental matters. Robin can be contacted at RAH@hulfmcrae.ltd.uk.
